Description
MaketheMonth.ca – the first digital poverty simulation tool in Canada – provides an online experience and understanding of what it’s like to live on the poverty line here in Calgary. The facilitator will walk the group through the online activity, which can simulate the life of a single person, single parent, or family of four. The group will be presented with difficult, real-life scenarios as they make tough decisions on whether to spend their limited budget on rent, healthy food, and transit passes or whether to go without in an attempt to “make the month.” Participants will get a better sense of some of the difficult choices people face every day and what resources and supports are available in the community.
This activity can be facilitated with a group virtually through a video communication platform or individuals can complete it individually on their computer on their own time. This facilitation requires the use of AV Hookups if it is being facilitated at your office.
